Types of Grants

Types of Grants

The charity funds two main types of grants; Resource Grants and Project Grants.

Resource Grants - are for students attending higher education establishments and undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses (but excluding one and two-year Foundation courses).  They may cover the costs of books, specialist clothing, tools or equipment but excluding costs of tuition.  The Charity is only able to provide one grant per degree course and is unable to support Further Education courses i.e. A Levels, NVQ or BTEC.

Applications for Resource Grants may be made at any time.

Project Grants – are available to individuals, schools and voluntary organisations operating within the area of benefit

The Charity is able to offer support to young people or organisations supporting young people in various projects.  Projects funded previously have included: visits, equipment and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

All Project Grant applications are considered at termly meetings of the Board of Trustees.

The Trustees meet once each term to consider grant applications, normally in February, July and November. The cut-off date for Project Grant applications to be considered at meetings of the Trustees is 10 days prior to the date of the meeting.  After this, all applications will not normally be considered until the next meeting. The dates of forthcoming meetings are:

4th November 2024, 3rd February and 30th June 2025

The completion of an application form does not confer the right to a grant. Grants are awarded, or not awarded, entirely at the discretion of the Trustees. No discussion or correspondence will be entered into unless the Trustees consider that there is a need for further information.

Application forms can be downloaded by visiting the application forms area of this website. Please note that applications for Project Grants by individuals should be made on a different form to Project Grant applications by voluntary organisations and schools.
